Our Story
At Simply Being, we believe in living harmoniously with nature and embracing a simpler, more meaningful way of life.
Our journey began with Megan Betty-Brown, a passionate advocate for healthy living, animals, and the outdoors. As a yoga enthusiast, accomplished runner, and nature lover, Megan’s life is deeply intertwined with the principles of mindfulness and balance.


Her culinary journey started at one of Johannesburg's top vegan restaurants, where she worked for six years. There she explored the art of plant-based cooking and learned that most people are surprised at how delicious plant-based meals can be. While many would love to eat more of it, they often don’t know their way around a tin of chickpeas!
The idea for Simply Being was born out of Megan’s experiences making vegan meals for her dad’s corporate office as part of 'Meat-free Monday.' Recognizing the demand for convenient, nutritious food, she decided to bring her creations to more people, launching a home delivery service of homemade vegan meals.


This venture wouldn’t be as much fun without the help of her mom, who has been vegan for many years and brings a wealth of experience making plant-based foods appealing to all eaters. Together, they aim to conjure up delectable meals that everyone will enjoy—the fact that they’re plant-based is just an added bonus.
